Fish study observation questions from the Handbook of Nature Study Where do fish live? What is the shape of a fish? Where is the widest part? How many fins? How many are in pairs? Pectoral fins. Dorsal fins. Sketch the fish with all its fins and name them. Make a sketch of the tail. Square, rounded, notched? Watch the fish swim and describe the action of all the fins while in motion. Lateral line Fish eyes Nostrils Mouth. Does it open upward, downward or directly in front? What sort of teeth? Why is the mouth in motion? What is the color above & below?  

Flower study: Interesting flowers

 Today we tried to draw the most interesting flowers we could find at the park.

Flower study: Blue

We were looking for blue & green flowers but couldn't find any green flowers. Here's the blue pea bunga telang flower which grows easily in Malaysia. by PinkPrincess

Flower study: Purple

 We found a purple flowering tree, reminds me of the sakura cherry blossoms. The petals are a lavender purple, very thin & soft. There was also a purple wildflower called the billygoat weed and another unknown wildflower, very small around 5mm in height.  by PinkPrincess

The national flower of Malaysia is the red hibiscus, bunga raya . It has 5 petals & grows easily here. by PinkPrincess

Flower study: Orange and White

We tried to find some orange flowers today, but there was only the orange ixora. The hunt continues & we decided to look for white & black flowers also. No black flowers besides the wilted flowers. Thankfully found some white flowers.  Drawings by 5-13yo. by PinkPrincess
